OCA-NY COMMEMORATES 4TH ANNIVERSARY OF PRIVATE DANNY CHEN'S DEATH
This morning, OCA-NY, along with Private Danny Chen's cousin, Banny, and Chinatown Head
Start where Danny attended, taught a 5th grade class at P.S. 130 where Danny also attended
about who Danny Chen was and the historical community struggle for justice. (see attached
photos). Then, the students were escorted to the Private Danny Chen Way street sign at the
corner of Elizabeth/Canal Streets where the students, introduced by their teacher Betty Tom,
recited what they would do to "Remember Danny". Banny Chen laid flowers at the site and
there was a moment of silence. City Councilwoman Margaret Chin, Lieutenant Colonel Peter
Riley, Sook Ling Lai, Executive Director of Head Start; and Elizabeth R. OuYang, immediate

"What the army superiors did to Danny not only caused his death, but also immeasurable pain
and suffering in our family that I don't want any other person to endure. In order to do so, we
need to remind the military of what happened to Danny." - Banny Chen, Danny Chen's cousin
"It's been four years since Private Danny Chen's death and we have not forgotten. It is
important for us to keep Danny's memory alive to ensure the Army protects and treats ALL of
