 New York City Plays Hosts to One of the Largest Asian Pacific American Civil Rights Conference

 OCA National Convention in New York City to also feature Job Fair

and Free Events for all New Yorkers

 What: OCA, a national civil rights organization dedicated to advancing the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs), will announce the agenda and highlights of the four-day OCA National Conference to take place from August 4-7, 2011 at the Grand Hyatt New York.

 APA community leaders, elected officials, and celebrities from across the country will be in the Big Apple to raise awareness, promote civic participation, and celebrate the rich diversity APA’s contribute every day to American society. Convention participants will be a cross section of leaders from various sectors including the nonprofit sector, education, business, health, arts, media and entertainment, government, and leading corporations in America.

 Special participants include fashion designer Zang Toi, actress Baayork Lee, and innovative NYC educator Edward Tom, Principal, Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics High School. Honorees for breaking barriers as APA role models: The Honorable Tammy Duckworth (recent Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs), Ursinus College President Dr. Bobby Fong, and multiple award winning actor B.D. Wong. All are scheduled to appear at the conference.

 Programs and Exhibits will feature among many great organizations; OCA’s partnership with the Museum of Chinese in America with a special tour of the Hate Crime exhibit for convention participants www.mocanyc.org
